A not too sweet, nicely textured chocolate cake waiting to be dressed up with whipped cream and fresh strawberries!!!

CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE

  • 1 cup margarine, melted
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 eggs
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • whipped cream, optional
  • fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Beat together margarine, sugar, vanilla and eggs. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the sour cream.

    Pour into a greased 9x12 pan and smooth the top.

    Bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean. Cool completely before topping with whipped cream and strawberries.

    Yield: 24 squares
